Haiku poem

Verse 1
The stars are shining
In the dark where it's midnight  
Of a special day

Verse 2
Harvesting some food
To celebrate a new year
By having hangi

Verse 3
The glimmering stars
On the day of a new year
On matariki

Verse 4
People are dancing
and singing on a cold day
where people fly kites

Persuasive Argument draft


WALT write a persuasive argument of our choice!

Purpose: To argue the case or your point of view

Structure: Opening statement - introduce your point of view 

Body: Arguments - point and evidence (Be prepared to back up your points with researched evidence)

Conclusion - repeat your point of view

Success Criteria: we will know we have achieved this when:

  • we can state our point of view clearly in the introduction and the conclusion
  • we can back each argument with relevant evidence and detail
  • our argument is mainly in the present Tense
  • we use connectives which link our ideas within the argument: because, consequently, so, therefore
  • we can structure the argument using firstly, secondly, finally and making sure each point has it's own paragraph
  • we can use persuasive devices such as Statistics: ‘More than 50%.....’
